The former Major League Baseball pitcher Dennis Rasmussen has signed on with luxury residence fund Equity Estates. Based out of Orlando, Florida, Rasmussen will leverage his involvement with the MLB Players Association alumni arm as well as other professional athlete organizations to expand Equity Estates’ reach in those markets.

Rasmussen’s 12 season professional career included stints with the New York Yankees, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals. His best year was with the Yankees in 1986 when he went 18-6. Once he left the mound, Rasmussen spent four years as a pitching coach with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Boston Red Sox before getting his securities license and becoming a broker in 2000 where he cultivated a small niche of high net worth clientele.

“"We are thrilled to have Dennis Rasmussen joining our team and its pretty fitting that he pitched for the Yankees since my business partner and co-founder, Philip Mekelburg grew up in New York and remembers watching him at Yankee Stadium,”"  said Adam Capes, co-founder of Equity Estates. "“Since his days as a professional athlete, Dennis has stayed closely involved with MLB alumni as well as other professional athlete organizations. This involvement, as well as his strong work ethic, competitive drive and business savvy will have an enormous impact on our efforts to attract new owner members.”"

"“My background in securities means that I really understand how this model works,"” said Dennis Rasmussen. “"I'’ve owned a second home before and know the headaches that go along with it. The Equity Estates business model is unique because it allows our owner members to vacation in a variety of destinations while actually owning the portfolio of residences. It’'s an ideal model for current as well as former players and their families. I believe in it so much that I'’m becoming an owner member myself.”"

Many of the destination clubs have current or former professional athletes and coaches as members. Just last month Ritz-Carlton Destination Club announced a partnership with golfer Annika Sorenstam. Steve Young and Doc Rivers are members at Ultimate Escapes and tennis player Tim Henman is an ambassador for the Hideaways Club. These high profile individuals help bring new members on board, and the athletes value the privacy that the club vacations provide compared to hotel stays or villa rentals.
