Rick Aristotle Munarriz on the Motley Fool speculates that it’s only a matter of time before Disney comes out with its own destination club – Disney Escapes !

He notes that most travel with Disney is already at a premium to other alternatives – for instance staying at its theme parks or sailing on a Disney cruise is pricier than the alternatives.

We haven’t heard anything specific but certainly think he’s on the right track in thinking a large hotel chain will enter the destination club industry. Ragatz Associates, an industry consulting firm, are known to have done some work with major hotel chains in assessing the destination club market.

As Rick notes “Destination clubs cater to affluent families, typically providing homes with 4-6 bedrooms and private swimming pools." So the family travel aspect is certainly something that Disney is used to.

It also turns out that Rick is a member of one of the clubs. “I joined Private Escapes earlier this year" he says in an earlier article, which covers the merger of Ultimate Resort and Private Escapes.

We'll be keeping an eye out for any news or announcements from any of the major hotel groups.
