Many of the Private Residence Clubs that we see offer access to golf courses, but one that is very much designed from the ground up for golfers is Private Quarters Club. Owners enjoy luxury golf vacation homes with first class amenities, and the privilege of golf and country club membership. At last weeks Ragatz Fractional conference we spoke to members of the management team.

With the recent launch of homes at Amelia National, Florida, the club now has three locations including Private Quarters Club's Porto Cima community located at Missouri's Lake of the Ozarks, and the Geneva National Private Quarters Club near Lake Como in Wisconsin.

Amelia National Golf Course

As with other Private Residence Clubs, ownership offers all the advantages of a second home without the high maintenance costs and obligations. In addition owners at Amelia National enjoy full golf/country club membership; use of a Tom Fazio designed par 72 course (pictured above); golfing privileges even when members aren't in residence; reciprocity with other Private Quarters Club golf courses; and Cloud Nine Concierge and maid service. The two other locations provide similar services and amenities.

The Private Quarters Club at Porto Cima offers a nationally recognized 7,118 yard, par 72 Jack Nicklaus-Signature course, Geneva National features three courses designed by golfing greats Lee Trevino, Gary Player and Arnold Palmer. In all 3 locations the homes are right on the course, offering easy access for golfers.

In our conversations with the club, they said that nearly all of the owners at Porto Cima and Geneva National live within a few hours drive of the clubs. In the case of Geneva National this includes Chicago and Wisconsin, for Porto Cima it's St Louis and Kansas City. This allows members to easily drive to the clubs to enjoy a weekends golf. At Amelia National the expectation is that owners will drive from Atlanta and Southern Florida and others will fly in from around the country, especially the North East.

Amelia National Home

At all three clubs owners have 21 days of vacation residency each year, which they can use in weekly or 3/4 day blocks. As an example of the ownership costs, the three bedroom villas at Amelia National are $75,000 with $4,200 in annual dues and the 2 bedroom villas are $50,000 with $3,100 in annual dues. All ownership is recognized with a real estate deed and so can be sold or passed on to heirs. The 2,700 sq ft 3 bedroom villas (pictured right) are valued at approximately $750,000, and just like the 2 bedroom villas, include amenities like plasma TV's and Viking kitchen appliances.

If you're a keen golfer, who spends a few weeks a year on golf vacations, then this is certainly worth investigating as an alternative to buying a full second home or an alternative to renting a golf vacation home. With the villas varying from 1,600 sq ft to 2,700 sq ft there's room for friends or family on your golfing trips.

If you're more of an occasional golfer then many other Private Residence Clubs provide golf course access for members and all the Destination Clubs have homes close to or even on courses. Some of the clubs even have homes in the birthplace of golf, St. Andrews, Scotland.
